As someone living with ALS or in contact with someone living with ALS, you should always take special precautions to safeguard your health and the health of those around you. People living with ALS are at an increased risk of respiratory problems associated with viral and bacterial infections.

Protect yourself, friends, family and other people living with ALS by following public health guidelines:
Get Vaccinated: Find a vaccine and learn what you can do after you’re fully vaccinated. If you have any questions, please consult your physician.
Stay 6 feet from others, and avoid large crowds and gatherings
Wear a Mask– Cloth face coverings should not be placed on young children under age 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance
Wash hands often
Avoid close contact with people who are sick, including caregivers
General Emergency Planning Tips:
- Have supplies on-hand
- Contact your healthcare provider to ask about obtaining extra necessary medications to have on-hand
- Be sure you have over-the-counter medicines and medical supplies to treat fever and other symptoms.
