Welcome New Strike Out Teams!
One thing we look forward to at our community events is seeing all the new faces who get involved every year! We’re inspired by meeting the people who participate and form ambitious, dedicated teams – and memorable team names – while embracing and supporting this community!
Team Bartosz: Run for Her Life! is a new Strike Out team and its members are looking forward to participating in their first event with all of you. Julianne, the team captain, formed the team with her family in honor of her mother Leslie, who was diagnosed with ALS in 2019.
As someone who has long provided her with support, Julianne is dedicated to giving back that support to her mom: «My mom and I have always been very close. We’ve definitely gotten closer (since her ALS diagnosis). She’s always been so supportive of everything that I’ve done. While this isn’t the way that I imagined to support her, I’m just happy that I’m able to give back to her.»
Join Julie’s team and others at Strike Out and continue the fight against ALS.
Webinar: An Overview of Medicare for People Living with ALS
What do you need to know about Medicare and ALS?
Join us Thursday, June 23 from 12-1 p.m. (CT) for the next webinar in the ALS Learning Series, An Overview of Medicare for People Living with ALS, for a look at topics such as Medicare eligibility, enrollment, coverage, costs, payment assistance, and considerations when choosing plans. You will also have an opportunity to participate in the Q&A portion of the webinar.
Presenter Kathleen Holt, JD, is the associate director and attorney of Center for Medicare Advocacy. In addition to her law and healthcare background, Kathleen served as president of the Board of both the ALS Association Evergreen Chapter (Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska) and Connecticut Chapter after her close friend was diagnosed with ALS in 1991.
The Les Turner ALS Foundation is proud to offer this webinar at no cost to the ALS community. Thank you to Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma America and Cytokinetics for their sponsorship.
Save the Date: September 24, 2022 is the ALS Walk for Life!
Mark your calendars and bring your friends to Soldier Field on Saturday, September 24 for this year’s ALS Walk for Life! Whether this is your first walk or your 21st, we’re looking forward to bringing the community together in honor or memory of people with ALS and do our part to change the trajectory of this disease.
Along with the music and activities, the main attraction is the scenic two-mile stroll along the lakefront that finishes off through historic Soldier Field! One 20-year team captain emphasized how important it was to be together again last year: «The vibe in the crowd was as high energy and smile-filled as always…the connection and camaraderie was evident all around.»
Registration opens soon so be on the lookout for an update from us! Contact us with any questions about registration or event day logistics. We’ll see you on September 24!
