Celebrating Lou Gehrig Day with Jonathan Eig and Lin Brehmer
Join longtime friends of our Les Turner ALS family, Jonathan Eig, acclaimed New York Times best-selling author of ‘Luckiest Man: The Life and Death of Lou Gehrig,’ and renowned Chicago DJ and radio personality Lin Brehmer of XRT93 for a very special online program to commemorate the first national Lou Gehrig Day on Wednesday, June 2 at 12pm CDT.
Jonathan will discuss writing ‘Luckiest Man,’ who Lou Gehrig was on and off the field, his diagnosis and battle with ALS, and the lasting legacy of the man forever remembered as the «Iron Horse.»
Plus, we’re giving away signed copies of ‘Luckiest Man’ to five lucky attendees! Sign up to attend our special Lou Gehrig Day program here>>
New Caregiver Support Group
«Many people find a peer support group to be a safe space to help navigate and manage the challenges in their lives,» shares Anne Lidsky, PhD, who has served as one of our support group leaders since 1983.
We have come to recognize the need for a Caregivers ‘Only’ Group, a time together to feel free to talk about all the issues facing caregivers without the worry of hurting a loved one living with ALS.
Caregivers share a common experience; life has become so tumultuous that we often feel exhausted and overwhelmed, hungry for emotional comfort. Together, with the guidance and encouragement of a devoted facilitator, we can find the strength to persevere together in a non-judgmental, accepting atmosphere. If you are interested in joining the Caregiver Support Group, launching this summer, send us an email with your name and information>>
