Victor was 14 years old when his father, an avid marathon runner, was diagnosed with ALS. To this day, he remembers how much the support his family received from the Les Turner ALS Foundation meant to them.
“Anyone who is caring for someone diagnosed with ALS knows the struggles that arise from it,” says Victor. “My family was fortunate to have love and support throughout our father’s battle.”
Please make a gift to the Les Turner ALS Foundation so we can reach people living with ALS, their caregivers and their families with the support and resources they need to make every moment count.
Families like Victor’s know how much your support matters.
“I remember the assistance the Les Turner ALS Foundation gave my father, especially in the latter half of his battle,” says Victor. “My dad ran 11 marathons over his life. I thought it would be a great way to honor him by running a marathon to raise funds and help those who are going through the disease.”
When Victor talks about ALS and the father he lost, he doesn’t want others to have pity on him. He wants them to think about the disease and the families who are living with it today. And he wants people to understand how important it is to find a cure.
“ALS goes deeper than one person,” says Victor. “It ripples into the lives of everyone that cares for and loves that person on a level that many may not comprehend. But it also creates opportunities to connect and bind people.”
When you join the community of donors at the Les Turner ALS Foundation:
Your donation will give someone living with ALS personalized support visits from our support services team.
You’ll help modify a home to accommodate a power wheelchair or an electric hospital bed.
You’ll sustain support groups for people living with ALS, caregivers and families who are coping with the loss of their loved ones.
You’ll also help provide access to clinical trials and advance scientific research into causes, treatment and cures for ALS.
This holiday season, please make a donation to support ALS care and research. Your giving makes an impact that families like Victor’s will never forget.
Together, we’ll ensure every person and family living with ALS has the support they need — and together, we’ll create a world free of ALS.
