Our 2022 Hope Through Caring Award Honoree – Dr. Lisa F. Wolfe

Join us on May 21 when we present the Hope Through Caring Award to Lisa F. Wolfe, MD of Northwestern Medicine, who throughout her extensive career has exemplified the key values of this award: extraordinary commitment to the fight against ALS, her innovative approach to ALS research and clinical care, providing services for people living with ALS and their families, and increasing public awareness.

Dr. Wolfe is a world-renowned pulmonologist at our Lois Insolia ALS Clinic at the Les Turner ALS Center. As a pioneer in the field of ALS respiratory care, she has built one of the most respected neuromuscular pulmonary programs in the country.

“I feel very privileged because even ALS is a condition where there is no direct cure, we offer treatments, interventions, support for families on this journey, and help to understand what they are facing and what their options are.” says Dr. Wolfe when speaking to her inspiration while advocating for the ALS community. “The ability to give people that kind of empowerment is inspiring. It’s inspiring because we get to participate and see how patients and families step up to these challenges. That’s the thing that allows you to sustainably do the work. Because if you don’t feel inspired by it, you wouldn’t do it this long. The reason that we have this team is because we do feel the inspiration of it all.”

Join us Saturday, May 21 at the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel, Chicago, in honoring Dr. Wolfe for her contributions to the ALS community. In-person capacity will be limited. Registration is now open!

Team Race for ALS: You Can Run for a Cure!

Join Team Race for ALS – a team of passionate runners training for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon in honor of or in memory of a loved one diagnosed with ALS.

Meet other runners and become an advocate for the ALS community. The funds you raise provide hope and help to those living with ALS. Everyone involved, although having different stories and experiences, run for a common cause – the desire to find a cure for ALS.

Some reasons why our runners become a part of this team:

“I lost a good friend, my best friend’s husband, to ALS and this is my way of supporting her and honoring his memory.” – Lucy Diaz

“Last Year, I ran a 5k to honor a friend’s husband who passed away from ALS. It was the first time that I learned about this terrible disease. I feel that people need to be educated more about ALS, and if I can reach one person or hundreds, then I know this race is meaningful.” – Rosa Worwa

As our runners begin their training and fundraising journey, let’s come together to give our support and help them cross that finish line in October!

Interested in becoming a part of Team Race for ALS? Contact Senior Events Manager Kim Kempf at [email protected] for more information about how to obtain one of the limited spots still available.
