The ALS Walk for Life is September 18
The 20th anniversary of our ALS Walk for Life is returning to Chicago’s lakefront on Saturday, September 18! Our signature event features a beautiful two-mile stroll along the lakefront and finishes at historic Soldier Field, home of the Chicago Bears.
Speaking of Chicago Bears, we are giving our first ever ALS Walk for Life Courage Award to Steve McMichael, member of the 1985 Super Bowl Champion Chicago Bears team, now living with ALS. Celebrate Steve’s courage on and off the field!
And for those ALS Walk for Life teams celebrating a milestone year, special recognitions are waiting for you.
Registration is open and T-shirts are limited. Form your team now to walk in your own community or at Soldier Field to celebrate and honor the lives of people living with ALS.

Managing Speech and Swallowing Problems
Thursday, August 26 at 12pm CDT
«Many people find a peer support group to be a safe space to help navigate and manage the challenges in their lives,» shares Anne Lidsky, PhD, who has served as one of our support group leaders since 1983.
We have come to recognize the need for a Caregivers ‘Only’ Group, a time together to feel free to talk about all the issues facing caregivers without the worry of hurting a loved one living with ALS.
Caregivers share a common experience; life has become so tumultuous that we often feel exhausted and overwhelmed, hungry for emotional comfort. Together, with the guidance and encouragement of a devoted facilitator, we can find the strength to persevere together in a non-judgmental, accepting atmosphere. Watch the webinar here.
You Made Strike Out ALS 5k a Success
The excitement was evident when over 430 people participated on Thursday, July 22 at our Strike Out ALS 5k and One Mile Run, Walk & Roll.
While some participated virtually on their own course (including one runner in Florence, Italy) the crowd that gathered at Guaranteed Rate Field, home of the Chicago White Sox, was happy to be back together!
After the race, runners, walkers and rollers enjoyed another Southside institution, Connie’s Pizza!
With your help, we raised over $52,000! Thank you!
