ATSDR’s mission is to serve the public through responsive public health actions to promote healthy and safe environments and prevent harmful exposures. In 2008, Congress enacted the ALS Registry Act to gather and organize information about who gets ALS and the potential causes of ALS. The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) is charged with developing and managing the Registry.
The Division of Toxicology and Human Health Sciences (DTHHS) is the part of ATSDR that conducts the National ALS Registry activities.
