2023 Hope Through Caring Gala

Thank you for making the 35th annual Hope Through Caring Gala a huge success! With over 400 guests in attendance, it was an evening full of warmth, laughter, a few tears, and these memorable thoughts:

“On the table outside, was a word – hope. That is everything for people and families who are living with this disease,” said Brian Wallach, ALS advocate and honoree. “I look around this room and I see one thing – hope. As a patient, I just want to say thank you. You can be anywhere tonight, but you are here. And that gives me hope.”

You helped us raise over $600,000 toward care and support for people living with ALS, their caregivers and families, as well as research into the causes, treatment and cures for the disease.

Photos from the Gala are online, and please share highlights including:

  • Chaunelle and Ken describing what the support they receive from the Les Turner ALS Foundation means to them
  • Janie Gobeli’s presentation on what the grants funded by honoree First Bank Chicago have made possible for her family
  • Rep. Mike Quigley’s presentation of the Harvey and Bonny Gaffen Advancements in ALS Award to Sandra Abrevaya and Brian Wallach, who moved the room with their thoughts on what the ALS community can achieve together.

We are still accepting donations toward the Gala. Since many companies match employee donations, you can double your impact by using our tool to see if your employer will match your gift.

Thank you again for your support of the ALS community!
