Genetic testing for people with ALS

Progress — 25%

Benefit: Preparing for your future care needs

Some people living with ALS may experience cognitive changes, which are changes in thinking and behavior. If you know that you’re at risk for cognitive changes in the future, you can start preparing for those changes now.

Doctors use the term frontotemporal dementia (FTD) to describe significant cognitive changes related to ALS and other conditions. In frontotemporal dementia, nerve damage in the front of the brain affects the way people think, feel, and interact with others.
