SUMMARY:Sam Shepard Jubilee: Fool for Love Tribute Show
DESCRIPTION:Fools for Love Tribute Show\nNovember 5\, 6 & 7\, 2018\nStage 773\n1225 W. Belmont Avenue\nChicago\, IL 60657\nDoors Open: 7pm\nShow: 7:30pm\nAll donations support the Les Turner ALS Foundation \nOn what would be the late Sam Shepard’s Diamond Jubilee birthday—Mon.\, Nov. 5\, 2018—actors Reilly Downes and Paul McComas kick off the 3-night run of a multi-arts benefit show based around the acclaimed Fort Sheridan–born playwright/actor’s riveting\, tragicomic 1983 one-act\, Fool for Love. \nThe 80-minute show starts with the premiere of Just These Dinosaurs\, a short film by McComas and Spencer Parks\, adapted from Shepard’s 1982 collection Motel Chronicles. \nNext\, guitarist/vocalist Downes and bassist/vocalist McComas perform a set of original “love-foolish” tunes\, plus several haunting Western songs that Shepard’s sister Sandy Rogers wrote for Robert Altman’s 1985 Fool for Love feature film. \nThen comes McComas’ propulsive two-person adaptation\, co-directed by Downes\, of Fool for Love\, which garnered Shepard a 1983 Obie Award for Best New American Play.

SUMMARY:World's Longest Turkey Trot: Alfredo Pedro Memorial Run
DESCRIPTION:Years ago\, ultramarathoner Alfredo Perro complained to his friend Scott Kummer that he wanted to run one last 100 mile race before the end of the year. Scott and Alfredo decided to simply run from the Chicago Bean to the city of Milwaukee for a roughly 100 mile turkey trot on black Friday. The called it the “World’s Longest Turkey Trot.» Shortly thereafter\, Alfredo was diagnosed with ALS. Alfredo fought a battle with the disease but lost his life to it in November 2015. \n \nEvery year a few runners have carried on this tradition in his honor by running from the Milwaukee Amtrak Station to the Chicago Bean. This year\, on November 23 & 24\, they hope to use the run to raise money and awareness for ALS. \n \nFor questions\, contact events@es.lesturnerals.org
