DESCRIPTION:The 2016 Celebration of Life to remember those we have lost to ALS will be held on Sunday\, November 6 at the Les Turner ALS Foundation office. This service will include readings by members of the Foundation’s Home and Community Services Team with a candle light ceremony and refreshments to follow. There are several ways that you can actively participate in the Celebration of Life: \nParticipate in the Les Turner ALS Foundation’s Memorial Plaque Program. DESCRIPTION:Celebrate research\, patient care and education with the Les Turner ALS Research and Patient Center at Northwestern Medicine on Monday\, November 7. There is no cost to attend the event\, but RSVP is required as space is limited. \nThe symposium will feature keynote speaker\, Dr. Terry Heiman-Patterson\, Professor and Vice Chair of Neurology and Medical Director of the MDA/ALS Clinic at Drexel University in Philadelphia. In addition to Dr. Heiman-Patterson\, presentations will be given by Researchers and Clinicians from the Les Turner ALS Research and Patient Center at Northwestern Medicine as well as Data Blitz sessions in the morning. DESCRIPTION:A group of musicians will gather at Fitzgerald’s to celebrate the life and music of Charles Mingus\, and to benefit the Les Turner ALS Foundation. Mingus\, known as one of the greatest figures in jazz history\, was an American musical hero who died of ALS. Presented by the Borderbend Arts Collective\, More than a dozen Mingus Awareness Project concerts have happened since its inception in 2007.
