DESCRIPTION:Nutrition Optimization in Patients with ALS\nFeaturing Brittany Hitson\, MS\, RD\, LDN\, Northwestern Medicine\, Prentice Women’s Hospital\, Clinical Nutrition & Dominique Kosk\, MPH\, RD\, LDN\, CNSC\, Clinical Nutrition Services\, Northwestern Memorial Healthcare\nThursday\, July 29 at 12 p.m. CDT\nRegister for this month’s ALS Learning Series webinar\, Nutrition Optimization in Patients with ALS\, featuring Brittany Hitson\, MS\, RD\, LDN and Dominique Kosk\, MPH\, RD\, LDN\, CNSC. \nThe purpose of this webinar is to help you better understand how ALS impacts nutrition. Each person living with ALS may experience their own unique set of challenges that may change over time when it comes to achieving adequate nutrition and maintaining their weight. This webinar will discuss various ways to maintain good nutrition through the foods you consume\, the way you prepare your meals\, how you stay hydrated and the additional support you may need when you are unable to eat enough to meet your body’s needs. \nAbout the Presenters: Brittany Hitson (pictured left) is an Alabama native who moved to Chicago in 2018. She received a Bachelor’s of Science in Nutrition/Dietetics with a Minor in Business from Auburn University in 2015 and then went on to obtain her Master’s of Science in Clinical Nutrition from the University of Alabama at Birmingham where she also completed her dietetic internship in 2016. She is currently working as an inpatient Clinical Dietitian at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and provides support to: general medicine\, surgical/urological services and the neonatal intensive care unit\, as well as the Lois Insolia ALS Clinic at the Les Turner ALS Center. She has been a part of the ALS Clinic Team since 2020 and also assists with inpatient ALS G-tube admissions. \nDominique Kosk (pictured right) was born and raised on the north side of Chicago. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from Dominican University and completed her dietetic internship at the University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers. She completed a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Epidemiology at Loyola University Chicago. Dominique has a certificate in nutrition support and is currently working at Northwestern Memorial Hospital as an inpatient Advanced Clinical Dietitian in the intensive care unit. She is one of two dietitians in the Lois Insolia ALS Clinic at the Les Turner ALS Center at Northwestern Medicine\, providing nutrition care and counseling for people living with ALS since 2016. \nSign up to attend the July webinar here!
